1977

• I moved into TVZ's rural country home in Franklin, just outside of Nashville, TN. It was primitive and sparse in a valley of 3000 acres with only 3 homes. TVZ had been a friend of the family for 8 years leading up to this.

  As TVZ played gigs and recorded 'Flying Shoes', I was introduced to TVZ's inner circle of friends and associates in Nashville.

  First year working with TVZ, as road manager. Major national tour followed release of 'Flying Shoes'. I road managed TVZ at request of TVZ and Tomato.

  Tomato set up a tour with TVZ label-mate John Lee Hooker. TVZ and John Lee Hooker would alternate headlining appearances.

1978

• I stopped road managing. Friendship with TVZ continues to grow. TVZ frequently calls me requesting my return to the maddening road.

• I attended Belmont Music College in Nashville, periodically going on the road with TVZ.

1986

• TVZ records 'Live and Obscure' at 12th & Porter in Nashville. 'Live and Obscure' was the first album put out with myself as co-owner with TVZ. The gig was standing room packed with a Who's Who of Nashville artists, songwriters, business people and friends, including Neil Young, John Prine, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark and Roseanne Cash.

  Hartland Records (London) releases Live and Obscure.

1987

• Arranged by me, Hank Sinatra produced a film of TVZ in a Houston hotel room. The film became the 2003 DVD and 2004 CD release 'A Private Concert: Townes Van Zandt, Houston, TX 1988.' This release was critically acclaimed by the press and fans.

  Recorded in famous folk clubs across America. Townes Van Zandt and his band performing pin drop live performances of cover songs that are considered timelsss and haunting. Band members Danny "Ruester" Rowland", Jimmie Gray, and Owen Cody are known as some of the best road/studio musicians. In 1995 the Road Songs album was nominated for a Nashville Nammy (Nashville's equivalent to the "Grammy"), in the category of Best Folk Album of The Year. "Dead Flowers", from the album, was featured in the soundtrack of the Cohen Brothers film The Big Lebowski.

Truly one of the greatest live recordings of Townes Van Zandt with his renowned band members Danny "Ruester" Rowland (lead acoustic guitar) originally from Guy Clark's band, Jimmie Gray (bass and vocals) from Waylon Jennings band the Waylors, and Owen Cody (violin/fiddle) from Billy Joe Shaver's band. This album was Tower Records Store magazine "Pulse" # 1 folk album of 1997.
